An incident involving at least one boat has reportedly led to multiple injuries and emergency rescue helicopters being dispatched near the Memorial Causeway bridge and Clearwater Beach in Clearwater, Florida.

CLEARWATER, Fla. — The City of Clearwater says multiple injuries have been reported after a boat crash near the Memorial Causeway bridge.
Officials say Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire and Rescue are on scene following a call at 8:43 p.m.
This is an ongoing investigation, and any new information will be updated in this article.
Conflicting reports on social media say the incident is classified by officials as a “mass casualty event” involving a ferry boat that hit a sandbar.
One user said four helicopters are airlifting people out of the area, and approximately 40 patients are being taken for medical care.

Another account says 40-50 people were onboard the ferry, and at least three are “seriously injured.”
