President Donald Trump is sounding the alarm on Christian persecution in Nigeria.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump spoke out about the threats faced by Nigerian Christians at the hands of Islamist militias.

He wrote:

Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter.

I am hereby making Nigeria a “COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN” — But that is the least of it. When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done!

I am asking Congressman Riley Moore, together with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately look into this matter, and report back to me.

The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria, and numerous other Countries. We stand ready, willing, and able to save our Great Christian population around the World!

This warning was underlined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

“The ongoing slaughter of thousands of Christians in Nigeria by radical Islamists and Fulani ethnic militias is both tragic and unacceptable,” he wrote.

”As President Trump said, the United States stands ready, willing, and able to act.”

While it remains unclear exactly what action would be taken, the most likely outcome would involve sanctions on members of the Nigerian government and those aiding and abetting the violence.

Over a Hundred More Christians Massacred by Islamists in Nigeria in Ongoing Genocide Campaign — Where is the Media Coverage?

In recent years, Nigeria has witnessed a relentless wave of anti-Christian violence carried out by Islamist groups and Fulani militias.

Entire villages have been wiped out, churches burned to the ground, and pastors brutally murdered in what many observers describe as a campaign of religious cleansing.

We need more people in America to realize what’s happening to our fellow Christians in Nigeria.

They are being slaughtered & the mainstream media refuses to talk about it.

It’s up to the rest of us to force the conversation. pic.twitter.com/kKv7qzN6NM

The attacks are typically carried out by Islamist militias, particularly the Islamic State West Africa Province and Boko Haram, which believe in Islamic supremacy and the total elimination of Christians from the country’s north and central regions.

The Nigerian government has done little to stop the bloodshed. Security forces often arrive hours or days after attacks, if at all, while officials downplay or deny the scale and brutality of the violence.

Nigeria is the most dangerous place in the world for Christians.
