French sculpting company Atelier Misso announced it will build the “tallest statue in the West” in 2026 to commemorate the United States’ 250th anniversary.
The French company is planning on completing the project by July 4th of next year, 2026, the 250th anniversary of America.
The new statue will be made out of titanium to withstand years of unpredictable weather conditions.
When contacted by Newsweek over the phone, the Paris-based company Atelier Misso confirmed the project was genuine.
According to the news outlet, “it remains to be seen whether Atelier Misso will secure the funding and permission necessary to attempt to build their statue. Given the date, completing it for 2026 could prove challenging.”
Atelier Misso wrote on X:
After months of hard work, we’re proud to unveil the statue we’ll build to honor the 250th anniversary of the United States. The Guardian of Liberty. What you see here is just the scale model. The real one will be gigantic, the tallest statue in the West. So many people have offered to fund it, but the real challenge will be getting visas so we can build it on American soil. Finishing it in less than a year won’t be easy… but as Napoleon once said, “Impossible is not French!”

The group added:
“To our fellow Americans : we are the last sculpture foundry in France and we have a message for you. Keep the Statue of Liberty; it’s rightfully yours. But get ready for another one.
