FBI Chief Kash Patel Breaks Ties with Hate Group Southern Poverty Law Center — Group Labeled TPUSA a Hate Group Weeks Before Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

FBI Director Kash Patel announced Friday that the Bureau has officially severed all ties with the far-left smear machine Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

Patel dropped the hammer in a fiery tweet this morning, echoing his April warning that the Bureau would no longer dance with this “controversial hate group.”

Under Patel’s watch, the FBI is purging itself of politicized poison, and the SPLC – long accused of labeling conservatives as “extremists” to silence dissent – just got the boot.

Kash Patel tweeted this out on Friday morning:

The Southern Poverty Law Center long ago abandoned civil rights work and turned into a partisan smear machine.

Their so-called “hate map” has been used to defame mainstream Americans and even inspired violence. That disgraceful record makes them unfit for any FBI partnership.

In April, during our Anti-Christian Bias Panel, I made it clear that the FBI will never rely on politicized or agenda-driven intelligence from outside groups — and certainly not from the SPLC. Under this FBI, all ties with the SPLC have officially been terminated.

Flash back to earlier this year, when the SPLC slapped Turning Point USA (TPUSA) and PragerU onto their toxic “hate map” as so-called “anti-government extremist groups.”

TPUSA, the powerhouse behind Charlie Kirk’s America First youth movement, was smeared with this garbage:

Turning Point USA’s primary strategy is sowing and exploiting fear that white Christian supremacy is under attack by nefarious actors, including immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community and civil rights activists.

TPUSA and its spokespeople often warn their audience that their children, wives, religion, way of life and they themselves are under attack by various constructed enemies.

Reminder: This is the same hate map that a terrorist used to target the Family Research Council for an attempted mass shooting in 2012. (SPLC condemned the shooting but kept FRC on the map)

The consequences? Catastrophic. Just weeks after the May 2025 designation, Charlie Kirk – the fearless conservative firebrand who built TPUSA into a bulwark against woke indoctrination, was brutally assassinated in August by a deranged far-left activist who cited the SPLC’s map as his “inspiration.”

PragerU, a popular conservative nonprofit that makes educational videos from a conservative perspective, was also included in the same category.

The organization, which was originally created to file lawsuits for those who were attacked by the Ku Klux Klan, has previously smeared Moms for Liberty with the same label.

While most people recognize that the SPLC is a Democratic Party propaganda tool, many mainstream experts and commentators continue to cite their studies as a credible source of information.
