Popular South Korean Pastor Sits Behind Bars for Speaking Out – Radical Left in South Korea Is Using Democrat Party Tactics to Crush the Opposition

Thanks to our trusted source in South Korea for this update. Notice as you read this how the pro-Chinese ruling party in South Korea operates exactly like US Democrats. It’s as if they are copying the tactics of the radical American left.
Christian Pastor Son has faced over 20 indictments by the radical leftist pro-China regime in South Korea.
A Pastor Sits Behind Bars for Speaking Out
In a shocking development, South Korean authorities have dismissed a legality review request filed by Pastor Hyunbo Son, keeping him behind bars on allegations of “election law violations.”
On September 24, the Busan District Court rejected Pastor Son’s request for release, citing “flight risk.” Pastor Son’s alleged offense was posting a video of a conversation with a candidate on social media, expressing support for one candidate while criticizing another during an election period.
In South Korea, election law violations are almost always punished with fines.
Detention is nearly unheard of. Yet Pastor Son — who led the “Save Korea” movement and organized mass rallies against the impeachment of President Yoon — is now imprisoned as if he were a dangerous criminal.
Political Persecution Disguised as Law

This is the truth the world needs to see: my father, Pastor Son, jailed in Korea for standing on God’s Word and refusing to bow to anti-Biblical education. They raided his church, seized phones, filed 20+ lawsuits, and now jailed him. This video tells the story. #ReligiousFreedom pic.twitter.com/W52eZ112Hi

Observers note that the case goes far beyond technical election law issues. Pastor Son is not an ordinary church leader; he is a conservative Christian figure who mobilized thousands against the left-wing government’s political purge of President Yoon. His imprisonment is widely seen as an attempt to weaken conservative unity and intimidate the Christian community.
A Son Speaks Out
Chance Son, Pastor Son’s son, wrote on X after the court decision:

The result of the detention legality review is out: dismissed. My dad Pastor Son remains behind bars.

If this were truly unlawful, precedent shows it should result in a fine. But “flight of risk”?

His words echo what many Koreans already believe: that the government is using judicial power to silence dissent, not uphold justice.

America’s Warnings Ignored
This comes after repeated calls from American leaders — President Trump, Charlie Kirk, Newt Gingrich, and Pastor Rob McCoy — demanding an end to Christian persecution in South Korea. Instead of respecting these warnings, the Korean government and judiciary have doubled down, targeting one of the most outspoken pastors who dared to defend freedom and faith.
A Global Warning
This is not about election law. It is about using lawfare to crush political opposition and silence Christian voices. If a pastor can be jailed for posting a video and speaking against impeachment, then freedom itself is under attack.
The persecution of Pastor Son must be recognized as what it is: a politically motivated assault on religious liberty and conservative resistance in Korea. And it is a warning to the free world — if left unchecked, this same authoritarian template will spread.
