As the Russian advances accelerate for fourth straight month, Ukrainians have lost the strongholds of Donetsk region’s Toretsk and Chasov Yar, and the Russians have also entered the city of Kupyansk, on the northern Kharkov region.
In the meantime, the siege of Pokrovsk continues, and even Kiev regime leader Volodymyr Zelensky had to confirm that ‘small groups’ of the Russian Armed Forces are ‘breaking through’ to Pokrovsk.
As August arrives, the attackers advanced on the Sukhetsky suburb north of Rodinsky.
Slavyangrad reported:
“At the moment, it seems that the deepening of the defense crisis of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the northern part of the [Pokrovsk] agglomeration has begun.
This approach corresponds to the typical Russian tactic of cumulative pressure: first the progressive expulsion of the enemy from the peripheral lines, then blows to the logistics and command nodes, and finally breaks in several directions to disorganize the defense.”

According to the Ukrainian Telegram channel ‘Legitimiy’, defending units have requested to get out of the impending trap of encirclement, but the command has refused.
This comes as the southern flank of the Ukrainian defense is systematically disintegrating.
In the meantime, Russian DRG (Diversion Reconnaissance Groups) move in the gaps in defense fortifications to launch deep strikes and hit-and-run assaults.
Watch: the small mining town of Rodinsky, located on the main highway to Pokrovsk, is under attack.
Rodinskoe.

Today (4), German paper Die Welt reports that Pokrovsk is surrounded on three sides.
“’Russians penetrate like water into any, even the smallest crack’, says [Ukrainian] Colonel Marcus Reisner, explaining the success of the slow but steady Russian offensive. According to him, the reasons are the constant depletion of Ukrainian defensive positions, excessive stretching of the front line, and systematically applied tactics of Russian troops.”

So, with Pokrovsk in operational encirclement on the northern front and under active attacks on the southern and central parts, it appears that the collapse is approaching.
