Feras Hamden, 36, of Westlake, Ohio, was arrested on a local charge of “aggravated menacing” in an alleged anti-Semitic road rage incident against Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) Thursday morning. Hamden turned himself in accompanied by an attorney after Miller filed a criminal complaint and sought a protective order. Hamden could also face federal charges.

Miller, who is Jewish, posted a video about the incident, saying a driver had driven him off the highway, shown a Palestinian flag and threatened himself and his family, “The deranged hatred in this country has gotten out of control. Today I was run off the road in Rocky River, and the life of me and my family was threatened by a person who proceeded to show a Palestinian flag before taking off. I have filed a police report with Capitol Police and the local police department. We know who this person is and he will face justice. As a Marine, a proud Jewish American and a staunch defender of Israel, I will not hide in the face of this blatant antisemitic violence.”

Statement by the Rocky River Police Department:

Excerpt from report by WJW-TV:

Authorities have charged a man with threatening to kill Ohio’s U.S. Rep. Max Miller and his family in an “antisemitic” rant on a local highway.

A criminal complaint filed that day in Rocky River Municipal Court, obtained by the FOX 8 I-Team, charges Feras S. Hamdan, 36, of Westlake, with a misdemeanor count of aggravated menacing.

It happened just before 9:30 a.m. on Interstate 90, according to a report from Rocky River police.

Miller told police a man in a black Tesla who was tailgating him told Miller he was going to “kill him and his daughter” and forced him onto the berm.

They both exited the highway at McKinley Road, according to the report. Police did not find the vehicle in the area.

The criminal complaint alleges Hamdan pulled alongside Miller’s vehicle and showed Miller a photo of the Palestinian flag on his phone while yelling “Death to Israel” and another profane remark against Jewish people.

He also hurled “antisemitic slurs” at Miller, according to a Friday news release from police

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) posted on the incident, “What happened to Max this morning is yet another outrageous example of unhinged rhetoric inspiring unstable people to threaten and attack elected officials who are serving their communities. We must turn down the temperature in this country. The U.S. Capitol Police is engaged with local law enforcement to help handle this case and ensure justice is served.”

Statement by the U.S. Capitol Police:

After receiving notification about a threat towards a Member of Congress in Ohio, USCP Special Agents immediately deployed to the region where they worked with local and federal agencies relentlessly to locate 36-year-old Feras S. Hamdan of Ohio.

He was arrested on charges of Aggravated Menacing. The investigation is still unfolding, but the USCP would like to thank our partners in this investigation for their information sharing and collaboration.

“In less than 24 hours, the USCP received notification of a threat against a Member of Congress, had boots on the ground, collaborated with the local police department, and the suspect in the case was arrested that same evening.”, said Acting Chief Sean Gallagher. “This case is a prime example of the USCP’s stance towards threats against our elected officials. We will continue to have a zero-tolerance policy.”

It appears Hamden is a medical doctor who was associated with the Cleveland Clinic a few years ago.
