Amid his extremely dramatic public outbursts against President Donald Trump, Elon Musk has floated the idea of forming a new political party in the United States to represent individuals who do not identify with either of the existing parties.
Musk polled X users whether there should be a new party “that actually represents the 80% in the middle.” The results were an overwhelming “yes,” after over five million votes.

After the poll, Musk wrote, “The people have spoken. A new political party is needed in America to represent the 80% in the middle! And exactly 80% of people agree,” with a laughing emoji
The tech billionaire concluded, “This is fate.”

In response to a user suggesting the name “The America Party,” Musk wrote that it “has a nice ring to it.”

Musk then quoted his post about the poll results, seemingly announcing the name.

Fox News reported on Friday that Trump discussed Musk’s “new party” threat during a phone call with Fox News host Bret Baier, and said he is not worried about it.

“Trump is not interested in talking to Elon,” Fox News host and former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said of the phone call. “Trump is not worried about threats of a third party….President Trump also pointed to his favorable polls and his strong support among Capitol Hill Republicans.”
Since Musk’s attacks on Trump began, the president has threatened to terminate government contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Tesla, which rely heavily on federal funding.
Musk responded by suggesting that Trump should be impeached.
Tesla shares have dropped 14% and have lost approximately $150 billion in value since the start of the feud.
