Conservative attorney and former Navy JAG officer enters North Carolina Senate race, targeting Tillis over ‘RINO’ policies.
Don Brown, a conservative attorney, author, and former U.S. Navy JAG officer, has declared his candidacy for the 2026 U.S. Senate race in North Carolina, aiming to unseat incumbent Republican Senator Thom Tillis in the GOP primary.
“Ed Martin stood up for January 6 defendants. He never backed down from telling the truth. Thom Tillis helped block his path. This is exactly why North Carolina needs new leadership—men and women who won’t fold under pressure and won’t bow to the D.C. establishment. I stand with President Trump. I stand with Ed Martin. And I’ll stand for the people of this state—every. single. time,” Brown wrote on X.

In a fiery campaign video released this week, Brown blasted Tillis for turning his back on peaceful Trump supporters and for failing to call out the blatant double standard between January 6 prosecutions and the George Floyd riots.
Brown: “Senator Tillis is not supporting Mr. Martin essentially because of January 6th. The Senator has an issue with Americans going inside their own Capitol on January 6th. And keep this in mind: the large majority of Americans—Trump supporters—who went in to raise their voices against a highly questionable election were peaceful. And the Senator is saying that if you go in your own Capitol, you should be arrested and put in jail.
Sorry, Senator, but the United States Capitol is the house of “We the People.” And for United States senators to suggest that anybody who walked in—which includes even the most peaceful Trump protesters who walked in and walked out—should have been arrested and gone to jail is beyond the pale. Senator Tillis has lost his mind. He is not one of us.
He has never once complained at all about the fact that the DOJ planted agents inside the Capitol. The DOJ admitted that at least 15 FBI agents were inside the Capitol and were guilty of the crime of entering during and remaining in a restricted space—essentially federal trespassing—but not one has been prosecuted. He has never called Merrick Garland into question.
He has never once questioned what the Justice Department did in trying to prosecute 95% of Trump protesters, when by contrast, Democrat prosecutors dismissed 95% of George Floyd prosecutions. He is not one of us. He does not represent North Carolina, and he has stabbed President Trump in the back one too many times.

Don Brown is a former United States Navy JAG Officer who served in the Pentagon, a former Special Assistant United States Attorney, a former Republican Congressional candidate, and a Publishers Weekly national best-selling author.
The author of 16 books, four of which achieved national bestseller status, in the past 10 years, Don has fought on the front lines of the battle for freedom, working as an author, a constitutional lawyer, and a former United States Navy JAG officer.
