ROAD TO PEACE: Russia and Ukraine Agree To Trump-Brokered Black Sea Deal and Energy and Infrastructure Ceasefire – But Moscow Alerts Some Sanctions Must Be Lifted First

We’ve always known that the Peace Process in the Russia-Ukraine war was going to be long and difficult, because not only is there a wide array of countries rooting against it – including many ‘allies’ – but also the whole edifice of the USAID-media is devoted to actively sabotaging it.

And of course, besides this hostile environment, there are also the objective difficulties to come to the peace, with each side having ‘red lines’ and unmovable demands that do not yet form a coherent whole – so the American mediators have to endlessly toil at both sides to achieve any progress.

Yesterday (25), after a very meaningful round of technical-level talks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the US was able to reach separate deals with Russia and Ukraine for a security deal in the Black Sea as well as a temporary cease-fire in the attacks against energy and infrastructure targets.

But to make that happen, the Trump team agreed to lift some sanctions against Moscow.

After the official announcement, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky came to public to say that the deal was to be implemented immediately, but of course, the Kremlin was to say otherwise.

The Russians demand the agreed conditions must be met before the new Black Sea maritime security deal can be activated – it bears mentioning that, unlike Ukraine, Moscow never broke the earlier agreement to stop energy and infrastructure attacks.

Ukrainians repeatedly broke the partial ceasefire on energy and infrastructure attacks, targeting Russian gas pipelines and substations.

Reuters reported:

“While Russian exports of food and fertilizer are not subject to Western sanctions, Moscow has said restrictions on payments, logistics and insurance have amounted to a barrier to shipments.

Russia wants the reconnection of its state agricultural bank Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT international payments system. That and other steps could require agreement from European countries.

‘As for the Black Sea grain initiative, it can be activated after a number of conditions are implemented’, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. ‘These are the same conditions that were included in the (original) Black Sea Initiative…all the conditions of which were fulfilled except for those concerning the Russian side. So, of course, this time round justice must prevail and we will continue our work with the Americans’.”

Russian submarine on patrol: the first Black Sea deal fell apart in 2023.

“Moscow in 2023 withdrew from the original deal, brokered by the United Nations and Turkey in 2022, complaining that obstacles to its own food and fertilizer exports had not been eased as promised under the terms of that agreement.”

Trump’s fulfillment of his vow to end the horrific war in Ukraine advances even further, as Russia and Ukraine agree to cease all fighting in the Black Sea and finalize their deal to not attack energy infrastructure.
