UPDATE: Rep. Abe Hamadeh to Introduce “Voting Only Through English Act” to Require Election Ballots to be Printed Only in U.S. National Language Next Week (VIDEO)

Trump-Endorsed Freshman Rep. Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) announced on Thursday that next week, he will be introducing a bill to ban ballots that are not printed in the national language, English, for use in federal elections.

“Any state that provides multiple languages on ballots will not receive any federal funding if there’s federal candidates on it,” Hamadeh said.

“I also think it’s an 80/20 issue,” he added, suggesting that 80% of Americans likely agree that ballots need to be printed in one language and that we should have one national language. “One of the basic requirements of becoming a United States citizen that’s been long-standing law is that you have to have proficiency and basic understanding of English.”

As The Gateway Pundit exclusively reported on Sunday, following President Trump’s executive order designating English as the official language of the United States, Hamadeh revealed plans to introduce a new bill to force states to print federal election ballots only in English.

“I will be introducing legislation to eliminate federal funding for states that issue ballots in multiple languages,” Hamadeh told The Gateway Pundit. “President Trump’s executive order laid the groundwork, and it’s time to solidify that standard into our elections.”

EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Abe Hamadeh to Introduce Bill Mandating English Only Federal Election Ballots in Line With President Trump’s Executive Order Designating English as the Official US Language

President Trump’s Saturday executive order states that it’s “long past time that English is declared as the official language of the United States,” citing the use of English throughout American history as the de facto national language since the founding of the United States and on our founding documents.

Hamadeh Joined John Solomon’s Just The News podcast on Thursday to discuss his incoming bill. “We’re going to be introducing it next week,” he said.

Watch below:

Hamadeh: We’re going to be introducing it next week, and it’s called the Vote Act. It’s voting only through English Act. And it’s a bill that basically says that any state that provides multiple languages on ballots will not receive any federal funding if there’s federal candidates on it. And it makes sense. Why? Because in order to become a citizen, if you’re an immigrant and you want to become a citizen, we welcome that. But one of the basic requirements of becoming a United States citizen that’s been long standing law is that you have to have proficiency and basic understanding of English.

And if that’s the case, why are we having multiple languages on a ballot? So, I think it’s a common sense approach. I also think it’s an 80/20 issue. You know, I so often I hear, you know, we have to cater to the Hispanic community. Well Hispanics—I’m from Arizona—they don’t want to be patronized. They want to be— they’re Americans. And that’s why President Trump won the most out of any Republican in modern history, the Hispanic vote. So, we have to make sure we have one common language, and we vote in a uniform standard, which is the English language.

It shouldn’t be too controversial. It’s a basic bill that solidifies President Trump’s executive order now puts it in the election integrity front. So, we’re going to introducing that next week. We already have a lot of co-sponsors, and we’ll see how it goes. But I’m pretty sure, again, that this 80/20 issue, common sense messaging is why Republicans are constantly winning the messaging battle right now because Americans are watching at home, and they’re seeing what Congress is doing.
