WATCH: Complete Bodycam footage of Democrat Rep. LaMonica McIver assaulting federal agents

Body-worn camera footage from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents shows their response to a protest at Delaney Hall in Newark, New Jersey, on May 9, 2025.

The video reveals the very confrontation that led to the indictment of Rep. LaMonica McIver.

For months, Democrats and their media allies portrayed the incident as an example of “federal overreach.”

But the video—calm, detailed, and unedited—shows exactly what happened: a sitting member of Congress physically interfering with federal officers as they tried to perform a lawful arrest.

The footage begins with ICE agents arriving at the facility amid a loud protest.

Demonstrators can be seen shouting insults, blocking entrances, and chanting just inches from officers’ faces.

Despite the chaos, the agents remain calm and composed, identifying themselves and issuing repeated warnings for protesters to stay back.

Moments later, the video captures the tense standoff that prosecutors say led to McIver’s felony charges.

As officers moved to arrest Newark Mayor Ras Baraka—who had entered a restricted federal area without authorization—McIver can be seen placing herself between the officers and the Mayor.

When agents tried to proceed with the arrest, McIver wrapped her arms around the Mayor, shoved one officer with her forearm, and appeared to grab another in an attempt to block the arrest.

According to the Department of Justice, McIver struck two officers and physically restrained another, violating multiple federal statutes prohibiting obstruction of federal law enforcement.

She now faces two counts of forcibly impeding and interfering with federal officers, each carrying a maximum sentence of eight years in prison, along with a third misdemeanor charge carrying an additional year.

The bodycam footage dismantles the narrative that ICE acted aggressively.

There are no weapons drawn, no shouting from officers, no excessive force.

The agents in the video follow protocol exactly as written—issuing warnings, remaining professional, and de-escalating even as members of Congress defied federal orders.

While McIver and other Democrat lawmakers claimed they were “protecting the mayor,” the footage tells a different story: elected officials openly obstructing law enforcement in the middle of a lawful immigration operation.

Rep. McIver’s act of interference was caught clearly on camera, and now forming the basis of a federal indictment.

U.S. Attorney Alina Habba credited Homeland Security Investigations for conducting the inquiry, which used the bodycam video as primary evidence.

The indictment underscores how political grandstanding and anti-ICE rhetoric have spiraled into direct obstruction of law enforcement.

For years, activists and politicians have demonized ICE officers as aggressors.

The reality, as this footage proves, is that they are the ones under attack—targeted, provoked, and physically blocked by those who believe laws don’t apply to them.

The video from Newark is now a key part of evidence in a criminal case against a sitting member of Congress. And it shows, with undeniable clarity, who truly disrupted the peace that day.
