For the 13th Time, Schumer and His Power-Hungry Cronies REFUSE to Reopen the Government — Air Traffic Controllers Miss Paycheck as U.S. Military Set to Go Unpaid Friday

U.S. Senate members participate in a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture for H.R. 5371, focusing on continuing appropriations and extensions.
The motion to invoke cloture failed to reach the 60-vote threshold, with 52 senators voting “Yea” and 43 “Nay,” leaving federal workers and service members waiting for relief.

Senate Democrats have once again turned their backs on America’s brave servicemen and women, rejecting for the 13th time a crucial bill that would ensure military paychecks continue flowing and reopen the government.

The government shutdown, now dragging into its 28th day, has left essential workers, including active-duty troops, air traffic controllers, and border patrol agents, without pay, forcing many to rely on food banks and community support just to make ends meet.

The Senate failed to advance a House-passed continuing resolution for the 13ᵗʰ time, casting a 54-45 vote that fell short of the 60-vote threshold.

The bill in question, advanced by House Republicans, aimed to reopen the government by providing temporary funding while addressing key policy priorities, including military pay and aviation safety.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and fellow Democrats rejected the proposal, arguing that it includes unacceptable provisions that they view as non-starters in negotiations.

Republicans have accused Democrats of using the shutdown as leverage, particularly impacting active-duty military members and their families.

Fox News reported:

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., tried to advance the House-passed continuing resolution (CR) and was again foiled by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and the Democratic caucus.

Failure to reopen the government on Tuesday came as air traffic controllers missed their first payday. The military is set to miss its first full payday on Friday. Then there is the looming cliff for federal nutrition benefits on Saturday — the same day as open enrollment begins nationwide for Obamacare.

In the background, Republicans are considering a series of one-off bills to pay the troops, certain federal workers, air traffic controllers and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps, but whether they make it to the floor remains to be seen.

Thune threw cold water on the prospect of the piecemeal “rifle shots” coming to the floor. Republicans will discuss the bills during their closed-door lunch later Tuesday, which will be attended by Vice President JD Vance.

“There’s not a high level of interest in doing carve-outs or so-called rifle shots,” he said. “Most people recognize the way to get out of this mess is to open up the government.”

Still, lawmakers with bills that could pay portions of the federal workforce were hopeful their legislation would get a shot. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, whose bill would pay air traffic controllers, said, “I certainly hope so,” when asked if it would get a vote.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that President Donald Trump, while traveling to Asia, announced that an anonymous donor had stepped forward with a massive $130 million gift to cover the salaries of U.S. military personnel during the ongoing federal government shutdown.

He described the mystery benefactor as a “great gentleman” and “great patriot” who “loves the military and loves the country” but wished to remain anonymous, a rarity in today’s spotlight-seeking world.

“He doesn’t want publicity,” Trump said. “He prefer that his name not be mentioned which is pretty unusual in the world I come from, and in the world of politics, you want your name mentioned.”

Trump emphasized that the funds were intended to offset the costs of service members’ salaries and benefits, stepping in where Congress failed.

The donor’s identity was first uncovered by The New York Times as 83-year-old Timothy Mellon, grandson of U.S. Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon, who served from 1921 to 1932 and built a fortune in banking and industry before the Great Depression.
