This was a sly move by the Mamdani campaign.
The New York Knicks have sent a cease-and-desist letter to Democrat mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani after his campaign used an image that looks almost identical to the Knicks logo in its latest ad.
In the ad which debuted during the New York Knicks home opener, it shows two men playing a game of basketball and at the end it shows an image of Zohran’s name coupled with the Knick’s logo.
In response to the ad the New York Knick has distance themselves from Mamdani and issued a cease-and-desist letter to his campaign.
In a statement the Knicks released a press release stating, they “do not endorse Mr Mamdani for Mayor.”

The New York Knicks have sent a cease-and-desist letter to the city’s frontrunning mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, after his campaign launched an ad using a logo strikingly similar to that of the NBA team.
The advert, depicting an intense game of amateur basketball in New York, aired during the Knicks season opener Wednesday night at which they triumphed over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
But the move has not gone down well with the team. In a statement, the Knicks said they wanted to make it clear they “do not endorse Mr Mamdani for Mayor.”
“The NY Knicks have sent NYC Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani a cease-and-desist letter for using the NY Knicks logo to promote his candidacy.
“The Knicks want to make it clear that we do not endorse Mr. Mamdani for Mayor, and we object to his use of our copyrighted logo. We will pursue all legal remedies to enforce our rights.”
Currently Mamdani is the favorite to win the New York City mayoral elections and leads former governor Andrew Cuomo, and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.
On Thursday, Mayor Eric Adams threw his support behind former Cuomo in a last effort bid to prevent the Democrat Socialist Mamdani from being elected.

Later on Thursday evening after Adams endorsed Cuomo, all three mayoral candidates hit the debate stage where Cuomo appeared to suggest Mamdani will celebrate if another 9/11 occurred in the heart of New York City.
