Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has had enough of Beto O’Rourke’s open defiance of the law.
In a blistering Emergency Motion for Contempt, Paxton is asking a Tarrant County court to hold the failed Democrat candidate in contempt, and to throw him in jail, for brazenly violating a court order less than 24 hours after it was issued.
On August 8, 2025, Paxton won a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) blocking O’Rourke and his far-left group Powered by People from raising money through ActBlue for the personal expenses of runaway Texas Democrats who abandoned their duties.
The order specifically prohibited fundraising for travel, hotel stays, dining, and paying fines for legislators who skipped work to block Republican legislation.
But according to court documents, Beto ignored the order almost instantly. At a rally in Fort Worth the very next day, O’Rourke openly mocked the ruling, telling the crowd:
“Listen, you may say to yourself: Well those aren’t the rules,” O’Rourke said, adding, “There are no refs in this game, f*** the rules, we are gonna win whatever it takes. We’re gonna take this to em’ in every way that we can.”
Not only did Beto verbally taunt the court, he doubled down on the exact behavior the judge had barred, flashing “Text FIGHT to 20377″ on a livestream and directing supporters straight to an ActBlue donation page for the same prohibited purpose.
The motion details how Beto also posted the fundraiser link on X and repeated the solicitation at a town hall in Abilene, proving this was no accident, it was a deliberate middle finger to the court and the Texas Attorney General.
Paxton’s filing asks the court to hit O’Rourke with $500 fines for each violation and to jail him until he pledges to obey the law.
According to the motion, “In light of Defendant O’Rourke’s repeated statements disparaging this Court’s TRO and announcing his intent to continue violating the order—because, “f*ck the rules”— the State requests Defendant O’Rourke be confined to jail unless and until he demonstrates a willingness to abide by the Court’s orders pending the outcome of this lawsuit.”
BREAKING: I’m taking action to hold Robert Francis O’Rourke in contempt for violating a court order and scamming Texans.
Beto is about to find out that running your mouth and ignoring the rule of law has consequences in Texas.
It’s time to lock him up. pic.twitter.com/JZO4cbBkt1
