President Donald J. Trump issued a direct warning to billionaire Elon Musk, saying the Tesla and SpaceX CEO will face “very serious consequences” if he funds Democrat candidates to undermine the America First movement and tank the GOP’s historic budget bill.
“If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that,” Trump said in a phone interview with NBC News.
“He’ll have to pay very serious consequences,” he added.
Trump declined to outline exactly what those consequences might be, but the message was unmistakable: If Musk wants to play politics against America First, there will be a price.
Once an ally and the architect of Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk has in recent days taken to X (formerly Twitter) to attack Trump, his policies, and even his character — including a now-deleted post linking Trump to the long-debunked Jeffrey Epstein smears.
President Trump called out Musk for the disrespect, slamming the Tesla CEO for attacking the Office of the President.
“I think it’s a very bad thing, because he’s very disrespectful. You could not disrespect the office of the President,” Trump said.
The president also told the outlet he has no intention of mending his relationship with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
When asked whether he believed their relationship was over, Trump reportedly responded to NBC News, “I would assume so, yeah.”
The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Trump, on Friday, said he did “not particularly” want to speak with Musk, calling him “the man who has lost his mind.”
Per ABC:
Speaking on a phone call Friday morning shortly before 7 a.m., ABC News asked him about reports he had a call scheduled with Musk for later in the day..
“You mean the man who has lost his mind?” he asked, saying he was “not particularly” interested in talking to him right now.
He said Musk wants to talk to him, but he’s not ready to talk to Musk.
Trump then talked for a couple of minutes about other things — referring to inflation (down), foreign investment (up) and his plans for a visit to China (huge).
