Terrifying video of the early Saturday morning robbery and beating of a uniformed off-duty New York City housing police officer in the Bronx was posted Sunday night by a retired NYPD cop.

The 27-year-old officer had finished his shift and was walking to his car around 4 a.m. when he was attacked.

The surveillance video shows the officer forced to the sidewalk by two masked, black-clad thugs, one of whom held a knife to his throat, then twice punching the cop in the face, while the other thug robbed the officer of his service weapon, wallet and NYPD issued phones. The helpless officer suffered a broken eye socket after one robber knocked him unconscious with a vicious kick to the head right before the robbers fled.

Excerpt from the New York Post report on the robbery:

An off-duty NYPD housing cop still in uniform was brutally beaten and robbed of his gun and other items by two masked thugs and left unconscious in the Bronx Saturday, police sources said.

The 27-year cop had just ended his shift and was walking to his personal car along St. Peters Avenue in Parkchester around 4:10 a.m. when bandits dressed all in black roughed him up and grabbed his gun belt — with the weapon in it — out of the vehicle.

The cop, who was not immediately identified, suffered a fractured eye socket after being kicked in the head while lying on the floor, sources said.

…The cop was on the phone with another officer when the thugs approached and pleaded to his attackers, “Don’t shoot me! I’m a cop!” before they took off, a source said.

The Post published photos of the injured cop in the hospital and of the two suspects:
