The father of slain teenager Austin Metcalf has revealed why he attended the press conference held by the parents of his son’s killer — he was hoping they would invite him on stage and pray with him.
Instead of being met with grace and goodwill, Jeff Metcalf was insulted and removed from the event by police.
Hours after the press conference concluded, the grieving father and Austin’s mother were both swatted. “Swatting” is a dangerous prank involving a fake emergency being called in to police so a heavily armed SWAT team will arrive at your location.
“They should have pulled me up [to the front] and said, ‘We are so sorry. Our condolences.’ The only thing I would have said was, ‘Okay, can we pray together and show the world we’re united,” Jeff Metcalf told The New York Post on Saturday.

But Metcalf said he meant no ill will by showing up at the event — he simply wanted to “represent Austin” in response to people disparaging him online, painting the late teen as a violent bully.
Metcalf said he’d hoped for an apology from the Anthonys for the actions of their son, who allegedly stabbed Austin, also 17, in the heart during a fight over a seat at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas, earlier this month.
What he did not expect was to be escorted out of the building by Dallas police.
Activist Dominique Alexander of “Next Generation Action Network” spoke at the event and called Metcalf’s presence at the event “a disrespect to the dignity of his son.”
Jeff Metcalf said of the comments, “After I leave, that Dominique … just gaslights to s— out of me. Says I’m disrespecting, I’m so disrespectful, I’m disrespecting the dignity of my son by showing up … and I’m just like whatever, dude. My character’s been assassinated. Or they’ve tried to assassinate my character.”
“This is my point: We’re both victims. My son’s dead. They’re son will be in prison. But it’s the end of the day, [Karmelo] needs to be accountable for his actions,” the father added.
Earlier on Saturday, Jeff Metcalf had condemned people protesting and demanding justice for his son, and demanded that his murder was not a race issue.
There were two dueling rallies in Frisco, Texas, on Saturday: one supporting justice for Metcalf, and another demanding freedom for his killer, Karmelo Anthony.
“You are part of the f-cking problem, my friend, you are trying to cause more race divide than bridging the gap,” Jeff Metcalf said in a phone call to the protest organizer. “I do not condone anything you do.”
Anthony fatally stabbed 17-year-old Metcalf in the heart at a track meet in Frisco on April 2. He died in the arms of his twin brother.
According to reports, the confrontation began when Metcalf asked Anthony to move from under the Memorial High School team’s tent since he did not attend the school. The incident culminated in Anthony pulling a knife from his backpack and stabbing the honor roll student in the chest.
The Anthony family has since raised nearly $500,000 on GiveSendGo. They have purchased a new Cadillac and moved into a $900,000 home.
Anthony has admitted to the stabbing and is charged with first-degree murder. He was released from custody last week after his bond was lowered to $250,000.
