The anti-Israel activist Mahmoud Khalil is comparing his plight in an ICE facility to Jews during the Holocaust.

Khalil, who will soon be deported from the U.S. over his role organizing the anti-Israel protests at Columbia University, wrote in a Washington Post op-ed that his experiences were reminiscient of the experiences described by Viktor Frankl in his Holocaust memoir Man’s Search for Meaning.

He wrote:

It’s 3 a.m., as I lie sleepless on a bunk bed in Jena, Louisiana, far from my wife, Noor, who will give birth to our baby in two weeks.

The sound of rain hitting the metal roof masks the snoring of 70 men tossing and turning on hard mats in this detention facility run by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

…

I pick up my copy of Viktor Frankl’s “Man’s Search for Meaning.”

I feel ashamed to compare my conditions in ICE detention with Nazi concentration camps, yet, some aspects of Frankl’s experience resonate: not knowing what fate awaits me; seeing resignation and defeat in my fellow detainees.

Khalil is currently awaiting deportation after a federal judge ruled that the Trump administration had the right to deport him from the United States.

The 30-year-old led protests at Columbia against Israel’s actions in Gaza Strip, paralyzing the university for weeks on end and disrupting the lives of students.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently wrote in a memo that Khalil’s actions have led to a “hostile environment for Jewish students in the United States.”

“The foreign policy of the United States champions core American interests and American citizens and condoning anti-Semitic conduct and disruptive protests in the United States would severely undermine that significant foreign policy objective,” he wrote.

However, there may be more to Khalil than meets the eye.

Last month, The Gateway Pundit revealed his ties to British intelligence, having previously worked at the British Embassy in Beirut, where he held a security clearance from the UK government.

Khalil moved to New York City in 2022 on a student visa to attend the Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), which is well well-known for preparing students for careers in fields related to international affairs, public policy, and security, including intelligence-related positions.
