A helicopter has crashed into the Hudson River with three children reportedly aboard the aircraft.
The New York Post reported that rescue efforts are underway after the chopper went down near Pier 40 on West Houston Street and West Street around 3:15 p.m.
Law enforcement officials confirmed to ABC News that all six people on board were killed when the chopper helicopter crashed. Sources also revealed to the outlet that five of the victims were tourists from Spain and the pilot.
NYC residents on social media said there was a “loud thumping noise” when the helicopter crashed. The cause appeared to be a broken propeller.

The FDNY is currently on the scene providing rescue efforts.
UPDATE: An eyewitness has revealed the helicopter split in two, with the rotor flying off in the sky. He said it sounded like a “sonic boom.”
