White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will deliver a press briefing this afternoon amid the political and economic fallout from President Trump’s tariffs on dozens of U.S. trading partners last week.
The tariffs are set to take effect on Wednesday, April 9.
Since Liberation Day on April 2, when President Trump announced his reciprocal tariffs in the White House Rose Garden, over 50 countries have contacted President Trump seeking negotiations on fair trade deals.
Several nations are already sending negotiators to meet with Trump Administration officials.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump got tougher on China, announcing harsher tariffs Monday. He announced 50% tariffs in addition to the 34% he imposed last week on Chinese goods after China threatened 34% retaliatory tariffs.
Additionally, Leavitt is expected to address the latest development in President Trump’s war against rogue activist judges such as James Boasberg.
The Gateway Pundit reported on Monday that the Supreme Court vacated Judge Boasberg’s orders barring the Trump Administration’s removals of Venezuelan gang members under the Alien Enemies Act. They ruled that Boasberg, as a single district court judge, lacked jurisdiction to dictate the President’s policy.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts on Monday also indefinitely blocked another court order requiring the return of alleged MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
President Trump will deliver remarks at the National Republican Congressional Committee’s April dinner tonight where he will likely call on Congress members to pass laws that codify his agenda and executive orders.
He is also set to sign Unleashing American Energy Executive Orders to increase U.S. coal and energy production at 3 pm.
