The disgraced far-left actor and comedian Alec Baldwin is warning that America is in a “pre-civil war environment.”
In a bizarre and incoherent rant uploaded to social media in which he looked like a haunted man, Baldwin argued that there are comparisons between life under the Trump administration and the build-up to the American civil war.
Baldwin explained:
Turn on my television, sorry, and watch Ken Burns’ famous, famous miniseries. And boy, you can see now that we are in a pre-Civil War culture now. When they describe things back then politically, there are profound differences, of course, in terms of just history.
What life was like back then, and cotton, and slavery, and Lincoln, and Robert E. Lee, and so forth. There’s just so many. This incredible story, awful that this country had to go through that, awful.
But as a story, it’s just overwhelmingly powerful and fascinating. When I look at the politics of it, of where people are in this country today, in the division, and how they’re holding fast, no one’s going to falter, no one’s going to break or compromise, and it’s bad.
So I think in terms of that, I’m trying to stop the yawning because I’m so tired from the jet lag, but in order for us to get anywhere, it doesn’t seem likely right now. And watching this show really reminded me of how we are in a very similar state now, in a pre-Civil War culture, in a pre-Civil War environment.

It goes without saying that Baldwin has had a tough few years.
As well as watching the man he so despises take back the Oval Office, he has also faced numerous criminal investigations over his role in the killing of Halyna Hutchins after he accidentally fired a gun on the set of his upcoming film Rust.
Back in February, Baldwin threatened to kill a Trump impersonator who was mocking him on the streets of New York City,
“I want you to be real careful,” Baldwin warned the man.
“If this camera wasn’t here, I’d snap your f–king neck in half and break your f–king neck right here. You know that, don’t you?”
