Prince Harry Resigns From African HIV-Aids Charity That Honors His Mother Princess Diana, Amid Bitter Dispute Between Chairwoman and Board of Trustees

What’s going on with Prince Harry and his African charities?

When news hit the headlines about trouble brewing between Prince Harry and one of his charitable organizations in Africa, it comes with a certain sense of ‘déjà vu’, since around a year ago African Parks, a conservation charity, was accused of widespread rape, abuse and torture.

Now, it arises that the embattled Duke of Sussex has resigned from an organization he set up to help African people with HIV and AIDS.

The move comes as a bitter dispute between the trustees and the chair of its board is ongoing.

Harry co-founded Sentebale in 2006, to honor his mother, Lady Diana, and help people in southern Africa coping with HIV infections and AIDS.

BBC reported:

“He stepped down with his co-founder, Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, and the board of trustees because its relationship with chairwoman Dr. Sophie Chandauka ‘broke down beyond repair’ after she was asked to resign and took legal action.

Dr. Chandauka said she reported the trustees to the UK Charity Commission and had ‘blown the whistle’ about issues including abuse of power, bullying, sexism and racism.”

Harry’s immigration documents are to be released, as the Heritage Foundation seeks to know if he lied in his Visa application.

The UK Charity Commission is ‘aware of concerns about the governance’ of Sentebale and is investigating them.

Harry and Prince Seeiso resigned from the charity with ‘heavy hearts’ and in ‘solidarity with the board of trustees’, according to an announcement.

“’It is devastating that the relationship between the charity’s trustees and the chair of the board broke down beyond repair, creating an untenable situation’, they said.”

Prince Harry and nhis wife, Meghan Markle.

The co-founders stated that the trustees ‘acted in the best interest of the charity’ when asking Dr. Chandauka to step down from her role.

Her decision to take legal action to retain her position, they added, further underscored ‘the broken relationship’.

“In response, Dr Chandauka said her work at Sentebale had been ‘guided by the principles of fairness and equitable treatment for all’.

“’There are people in this world who behave as though they are above the law and mistreat people, and then play the victim card and use the very press they disdain to harm people who have the courage to challenge their conduct’, she said. This, she said, was the ‘story of a woman who dared to blow the whistle about issues of poor governance, weak executive management, abuse of power, bullying, harassment, misogyny, misogynoir [discrimination against black women] – and the coverup that ensued’.”

But the issues between Chandauka and Prince Harry seem to have started ever since she was appointed to the position last year.

Page Six reported:

“In light of the “Spare” author’s decision, a video of Meghan Markle awkwardly asking Chandauka not to stand next to her husband has since resurfaced.

In the clip, originally taken in April 2024, Chandauka stood beside Harry as he and Markle raised a trophy following a charity polo match.

It was clear that neither Harry nor Markle wanted the chairwoman next to the red-headed royal. However, the two still smiled in photos together during other photo opportunities at the event.”
