Democrat Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona blasted Elon Musk for calling him a traitor after Musk criticized him for his recent trip to Ukraine to undermine President Donald Trump’s efforts to stop Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Kelly wrote on X (owned by Musk) Monday afternoon, “Traitor? Elon, if you don’t understand that defending freedom is a basic tenet of what makes America great and keeps us safe, maybe you should leave it to those of us who do.”
Kelly is a retired Navy Captain who flew combat missions in the Gulf War and later piloted Space Shuttles for NASA. Kelly went to Ukraine with his identical twin brother Scott who is also a retired Navy Captain pilot and Space Shuttle pilot.
Mark Kelly called President Trump’s hardball tactics with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to help bring about an end to the war “sickening” after returning from Ukraine.
Musk also got into a war of words over on Sunday with Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski, calling him a “small man,” in a dispute over Musk providing his Starlink satellite Internet service to Ukraine:
Musk, who is leading President Trump’s DOGE efforts to reform the federal government as a Special Government Employee, was backed up by Secretary of State Marco Rubio who posted, “Just making things up. No one has made any threats about cutting Ukraine off from Starlink. And say thank you because without Starlink Ukraine would have lost this war long ago and Russians would be on the border with Poland right now.”
Rubio, along with National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, is traveling to Saudi Arabia for talks scheduled for Tuesday with Ukrainian officials. Zelenskyy, who was in Saudi Arabia on Monday, may or may not stay to meet with Trump’s team Tuesday.
