Moscow Reacts Fiercely to Macron’s Nuclear Rhetoric, Calling It ‘Nuclear Blackmail’ – What Can France’s 290 Warheads Do Against the Massive, 6,000-Strong Russian Arsenal?

Macron’s nuclear blackmail.

It looks like French President Emmanuel Macron finally managed to insert himself smack dab in the middle of the Peace Process debate and the resolution of the Ukraine war – in the worst possible way.

By floating the idea of using the ‘nuclear umbrella’ of the – limited – French arsenal, ‘Macron Demission’ managed to enrage the Russians.

The Russian Foreign Ministry accused French President Emmanuel Macron of ‘nuclear blackmail’ and stated that he finally ‘removed the mask and revealed who is leading the ‘war party’ today’.

The following was sourced from several Sputnik posts on Telegram:

“Russia has never threatened France and even helped defend its independence during both World Wars. But Macron’s remarks pose a threat to Russia.

Macron’s offer of a ‘nuclear umbrella’ to Europe will not strengthen the security of France or its allies.

Paris still has no intention of taking Russia’s vital interests into account and aims to ‘force’ Moscow to make decisions that suit the West.”

Lavrov weighs in.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov weighs in by saying that ‘Macron’s remarks on the possible use of nuclear arms are a threat to Russia.’

“Without US, UK help with intelligence information, Kiev cannot launch missiles. […] The Ukraine conflict can end by stopping arms supplies by the West to Kiev.

[…] There can be no compromise on the possible deployment of European peacekeepers in Ukraine. […] The deployment of European peacekeepers to Ukraine will mean NATO direct involvement in war with Russia.”

Paris destroyed in AI-generated image by Sputnik: 290 warheads against 6,000 – is that a good bet?

Meanwhile, Russians can’t resist comparing France’s relatively small nuclear capabilities with the massive arsenal of modern Russian hypersonic tactical missiles.

Attacking France could create a chain reaction and radioactive clouds ‘a million times greater’ than Chernobyl, it is argued.

“France’s large-scale network of 56 nuclear reactors. ‘These reactors are unlikely to be quickly brought to a safe, non-operational state.’

‘This could create several Chernobyls as a consequence of the use of nuclear weapons. That is, the territory of France would effectively cease to exist, [Russian military analyst Alexey Leonkov] said.”

Even the seemingly unstoppable Oreshnik hypersonic MRBM – a powerful conventional missile, could arguably bring about the destruction of France’s strategic military and civilian infrastructure.

“’Therefore, flaunting France’s nuclear arsenal – 290 warheads against Russia’s almost 6,000, most of which use guided hypersonic technology, is madness.

This is madness on the part of Macron, and those who surround and support him,’ [Leonkov] summed up.”

Watch: Russian FM Lavrov comments Macron’s nuclear threats.

“He apparently wants to defeat and conquer Russia,” Lavrov said about Macron’s nuclear threats.

“Unlike his predecessors—Napoleon and Hitler—who also wanted to wage war against Russia, Macron is acting in a rather clumsy manner. They openly said: ‘We need to conquer Russia, we… pic.twitter.com/eALT4mq78F
