Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sat for an interview Sunday and told Sky News’ Yalda Hakim that he’s not planning to resign, amid growing calls from U.S. officials, unless Ukraine is granted membership to NATO and increased security guarantees.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recently said that the Trump administration does not see NATO membership for Kyiv as a viable outcome after the war, and President Trump has said Zelensky should “forget about” joining NATO. Zelensky’s increasing hostility toward the U.S. and President Trump is likely not helping his cause.
Zelensky still has not apologized for Friday’s events, which led to his expulsion from the White House and his loss of the opportunity to end the war.
What was already a done deal and a public signing of an agreement went haywire when Zelensky, who couldn’t even bother to wear a suit, repeatedly rolled his eyes, interrupted the President, refused to agree to a ceasefire, then started attacking the President and Vice President. Ukraine had previously agreed to Trump’s requested mineral rights deal with the U.S. to compensate Americans for the hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money Joe Biden gave them over the last four years, but the agreement was not officialized Friday. Zelensky decided to showboat and attack the President for Obama and Biden’s failures.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Warmongering RINO Senator Lindsey Graham, Ukraine’s greatest ally in the Senate, unexpectedly came out and called for Zelensky’s resignation immediately following the disrespect he showed President Trump in the Oval Office on Friday.
Zelensky has also faced criticism and calls for resignation from many other lawmakers and U.S. officials.
“I don’t think they really want to stop Putin. They want to continue this bloodshed,” Ukraine-born U.S. Rep Victoria Spartz (R-IN) said in condemnation of Zelensky’s despicable behavior.
To his American critics, namely Lindsey Graham, who Zelensky called a “very good guy,” he appeared to make an offer to shut him up. ” I can give him [Graham] citizenship of Ukraine,” Zelensky said while attacking the U.S. for having values that he described as “not very democratic.” Ironically, Zelensky’s idea of Democratic is canceling elections, citing the ongoing war.

Hakim: Has there been any communication with the administration since the Oval Office meeting? Have they reached out to you? And separately, you talked about resignation a few days ago. How are you thinking about elections?
Zelensky: There is communication, not on my level. Yes. With regards to resignation, my resignation, if I’m to be changed, and I’ll hear— with what’s happening with the support, to change me, it will not be easy, because it is not enough to simply hold elections. You would need to prevent me from participating in the election, and it will be a bit more difficult, so they’ll have to negotiate with me, and I said that I’m exchanging it NATO membership, and then it means that I fulfilled my mission. NATO means I fulfilled my mission, although honestly, it looks like the people and I will not only pulling their posts, naming their posts, but the citizens of other Countries are telling Ukrainians which president they should have. Especially if these people occupy official posts, it seems to me a bit undemocratic or unconstructed. We are speaking about the values, and it definitely is not very democratic. Although I’m openly saying, maybe it is a solution for Putin, for everybody, if I’m not that flexible, as they say, I’m exchanging it for NATO.
Hakim: Can I just ask, you alluded to citizens of other nations. I mean, since the incident, Senator Lindsey Graham said that perhaps you should consider resigning. Speaker Mike Johnson today said that maybe you should consider resigning. Is your attitude it’s not their business?
Zelensky: Lindsey Graham is a very good guy, very nice. In speaking who must be the president and whether I shall resign, I can give him the citizenship of Ukraine. He will be become the citizen of our country, and then, his voice will start to gain weight, and I will hear him as a citizen of Ukraine on the topic of who must be the president. But Linsey represents the party that fights for democratic values, and anyway, the President of Ukraine will have to be chosen, not at home at Lindsey Graham’s home, but in Ukraine.
