According to several sources within the Democrat Party in Florida, Former Orange County Property Appraiser Rick Singh is being urged to mount a campaign for Mayor because of his business background, military training, and his ability to influence men and women to accomplish the mission.
Singh, a Kennedy’Esque Democrat who served in the United States Army, never got caught up in the Ultra Progressive culture, instead he favored merit and logic during his time as Property Appraiser.
Here’s a perspective from this journalist who thinks this is the right idea, for Democrats wanting to save their party from falling into obscurity, and for Orange County residents.
Singh, who is of Indian origin, loves America and wants to bring his business savvy to the Mayor’s office. With Disney and Universal, Orange County, Florida is the biggest tourist destination in the world and Singh is eager to pursue economic development.
When he was Property Appraiser, Singh fought to make sure everyone, big and small, paid taxes on the actual value of their properties. Plus, he updated the Appraiser office’s technology, making it a globally recognized agency, and stomped out wasteful spending.
Singh, who has not formed a committee or officially announced, is reportedly concerned about human trafficking and the flow of drugs into Orange County. The Democratic Party machine worked against Singh during his first two campaigns for Property Appraiser, largely due to his refusal to adopt far-left talking points and use his office as a vehicle for progressive policies like defund the police movement.
Since leaving office, Singh has focused on his investment properties and real estate, much like he did before running for public office. Singh declined to comment when reached by phone.
