California Governor Gavin Newsom is once again proving his loyalty—not to the hardworking taxpayers of his state, but to the ever-growing population of illegal immigrants who have flooded California thanks to the Democrats and Biden administration’s disastrous open-border policies.
During the first budget hearing of 2025 for the California Assembly, Newsom’s office admitted that they grossly underestimated the cost of providing free, taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegal aliens.
Originally projected at $6.5 billion, the true cost has now skyrocketed to $9.5 billion—a staggering 46.2% increase from what was initially claimed.
That’s nearly $10 billion of California taxpayers’ hard-earned money being funneled into services for illegal immigrants while the state struggles with a crippling $68 billion budget deficit and soaring taxes on legal residents.
“California taxpayers should be outraged that they face massive tax hikes in this budget while illegal immigrants are being given nearly $10 billion in free taxpayer-funded healthcare coverage,” said Assemblymember Carl DeMaio (R).

According to California’s Budget Committee, the state became the first in the nation to expand Medicaid to include all illegal immigrants residing in California, adding as many as 700,000 illegal aliens to the state’s already overwhelmed Medi-Cal program.
The expansion is expected to further strain an already broken system.
A cost study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) in 2023 found that over 3.2 million illegal immigrants already live in California, alongside more than 1.1 million U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants. Altogether, this group represents more than 11.1% of the state’s population, draining taxpayer resources while citizens face growing financial hardship.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who has been increasingly outspoken about government corruption and fiscal irresponsibility, wasted no time in reacting to Newsom’s latest betrayal of California taxpayers.

With homelessness skyrocketing, businesses fleeing the state in record numbers, and middle-class families struggling to afford basic necessities, Newsom’s decision to hand out billions in free benefits to illegal immigrants is nothing short of a slap in the face to every law-abiding citizen.
