Just a few weeks ago, very few in the ‘Mainstream’ or ‘Legacy’ media even believed that real peace negotiations between the two superpowers US and Russia were possible.
But now that the winds of peace are blowing for the world to see after the historic return of President Donald J. Trump to power, this same media that we can maybe call ‘USAID-funded media’ has made a pivot: now they think it’s taking too long!
So almost everyday you have bogus reports on the state of negotiations that drown the real bits of information that we do have: negotiations are ongoing at a departmental level, and are accelerating.
Today (7), the Kremlin criticized the many inaccurate reports on U.S. plans for ending the Ukraine war, and – in an unusual development – called for ‘patience’.
Speculation is rampant about the timing and place of a possible meeting between presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked at a briefing about a report that Trump’s envoy Keith Kellogg sought a truce even before talks on a peace settlement.
Reuters reported:
“’We have nothing to add yet. There are a lot of statements and reports on this topic that are refuted, changed, recognized as hoaxes or something else the next day’, Peskov said.
‘There is nothing substantive on this account yet; we just need to be patient’.”
The two leaders, Trump and Putin, have repeatedly said to be willing meet in person, to bring about an end to the three-year-old conflict.
“’Russia is open to negotiations. In any case, a settlement should come as a result of negotiations’, Peskov said.”
A member of the Russian parliament, Leonid Slutsky, was quoted as saying that the preparations for the meeting were at ‘an advanced stage’ and that it could take place as early as February or March.
“Peskov said on Wednesday that contacts with Trump’s team at the level of ‘individual departments’ were intensifying, but declined to provide further details.”
